For decades, Coinstar has been synonymous with physical money — the iconic green kiosks trusted to turn coins into cash.

As money continues to move digital, Coinstar identified an opportunity to evolve beyond the machine and expand what the brand could represent.

HLK partnered with Coinstar to support this shift by helping develop and launch CINQ by Coinstar, a new brand and crypto wallet designed to connect physical cash with digital currency.

A Clear Challenge in a Changing Financial Landscape

Coinstar’s long-standing equity is rooted in trust and reliability.

At the same time, the brand was widely associated with transactional, physical experiences. The challenge was to introduce a digital product that felt accessible and grounded in trust, while clearly signaling a step forward for the brand.

HLK helped shape CINQ by Coinstar as a simple, kiosk-centric pathway from cash to crypto, reframing physical money as a starting point for broader financial access.

Developing the CINQ by Coinstar Brand

HLK supported the development of CINQ by Coinstar from the ground up, beginning with naming.

The name CINQ reflects the idea of money syncing with life, while maintaining a subtle connection to Coinstar through “Cin.”

The brand identity was designed to feel confident, modern and approachable. HLK developed a visual system including a distinctive logo, typography and color palette intended to stand out in the digital finance space while remaining accessible.

Bringing CINQ by Coinstar to Market

HLK partnered with Coinstar on the go-to-market approach, positioning CINQ by Coinstar as a bridge between physical and digital money.

The launch campaign, Portal of Possibilities, introduced the brand through digital advertising, storytelling and a dedicated website.

Together, these elements established CINQ by Coinstar as a clear extension of Coinstar’s offering in digital currency.

Establishing a Foundation for What’s Next

CINQ by Coinstar launched with a new brand, website and campaign in market, marking Coinstar’s entry into the cash-to-crypto space.

While quantitative results are still forthcoming, the work establishes a foundation for continued exploration in digital money.
